I am an Associate Professor at Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU), in the Dept. of Computer Languages and Systems, Bilbo, Basque Country (Spain).

My research interests revolve around the idea of publishing and consuming data in an interoperable way: for example, by following FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). I am also interested in Open Data, government transparency, Knowledge Graphs, the application of LLMs (e.g. through RAG), Linked Data, Semantic Web, Free Software, ontology engineering, bioinformatics, medical informatics, and minorized or low resources languages like basque.

I am a biologist by the UPV/EHU; I also hold a PhD in computer science and an MSc in Bioinformatics, both awarded by the Univesity of Manchester, UK. I have worked in academia (UM, UPM and UPV/EHU in Spain; VIB in Belgium), and in the private sector (eccenca GmbH in Germany and Eurohelp Consulting in Spain, funded by the Torres Quevedo program). I have also done Freelance work for Cognizone (Belgium), SIEMENS, BASF, and the Basque Government (Spain).
